Spenser Macleod is a Maine-based muralist, painter, and illustrator with over a decade of experience creating bold, large-scale murals across New England. His work blends the energy of vintage pop culture with the craft traditions of sign painting, drawing inspiration from classic advertising, mid-century graphics, and the colorful visual language of everyday American design.
Originally from Southern Maine, Macleod earned a BFA in Illustration from the Maine College of Art and has spent the past ten years developing a distinctive style defined by strong line work, vibrant color palettes, playful typography, and graphic compositions designed to read from a distance. His murals often celebrate place—pulling inspiration from coastal landscapes, local history, and the character of the communities where the work lives.
Whether painting a massive outdoor wall, transforming a restaurant interior, or creating original studio work, Macleod approaches each project with the same goal: to make something that feels timeless, energetic, and deeply rooted in craft. His work balances nostalgia with a contemporary edge, aiming to create public art that is approachable, memorable, and full of personality.
When he’s not painting walls, Macleod can usually be found sketching new ideas, collecting vintage children’s books, or thinking about the next big surface waiting to be painted.
